Lectio Divina

‘Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you.’

Jeremiah 29.12

The practice of Lectio Divina, or sacred reading, reminds us that to read the Bible can, in fact, be an act of prayer itself. On the third Thursday of every month, we meet in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit to read Sunday’s Gospel passage in an intimate, prayerful setting. We take turns to read aloud the words and deeds of Jesus. We sit in silence. We share words or phrases which strike us. We speak our thoughts with one another on the short text. This coming together often brings surprise discoveries – about our backgrounds, our journey of faith, our hopes for the future. Do feel free to join us one Thursday evening to look afresh at the Good News before us.
